On September 5, Professor Wei Lijia from our school was invited to participate in the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) Management Science Department's Strategic Symposium on Economic Science Development for the 15th Five-Year Plan. During the event, he delivered a specialized address at the roundtable forum on "AI Economic Theory and Policy Research." The symposium brought together over 20 experts and scholars from leading universities and research institutions across China to discuss the strategic direction of economic science over the next five years.

The symposium featured a keynote speech by Professor Wang Shouyang, Fellow of the World Academy of Sciences, Distinguished Researcher at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Director of the Forecasting Science Research Center at the Academy of Mathematics and Systems Science. Other notable presentations were delivered by Professor Xie Danyang from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou), Professor Lü Wei from Dongbei University of Finance and Economics, Professor Shi Kang from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and Professor Li Sanxi from Renmin University of China.
Discussions centered on the progress of economic science in China, interdisciplinary integration, and independent theoretical innovation. The symposium also delved into two core themes: "AI Economic Theory and Policy Research" and "China’s Economic Transformation and Policy Optimization in the Context of Great Power Competition."
Organized by the NSFC Management Science Department and co-hosted by the Forecasting Science Research Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Zhouzhuang Economic Research Institute at Xiamen University, and the School of Economics at Guangdong University of Technology, the symposium aimed to promote high-quality development in economic science and provide theoretical support for China’s economic practices.
